A Day Without Night, A Conversation without Words.

happy travels

It's February 26, 2010. I find myself remembering our first trip to a meditation center in the mountains of Northern Thailand.

It feels like yesterday that Wayne and I left for the airport, beginning a long journey across the world. The flight was long, almost 24 hours, but peaceful. Somewhere along the way I notice something amazing: as we traveled across time zones, the sun never seemed to set. It was a day without night. I had never experienced anything like that before. It felt almost symbolic, like stepping outside of time itself.

Another quiet lesson came on our flight from Tokyo to Bangkok. A young couple sate in front of us with their toddler. At first, I expected the usual restlessness that comes with a long flight. But instead, something beautiful happened. There was complete calm. No crying, no noise, just occasional moments when the little girl would turn around, smile gently, and return to her parents.

Curious, I began to observe them more closely.

They hardly spoke. Yet everything flowed with ease. There was a softness in their touch, a quiet understanding between them. It felt as if they were communicating without words, guided by presence, patience, and care. The three of them moved together in a kind of silent harmony.

Watching them felt like a meditation in itself.

At that moment, I realize how powerful stillness can be. How connection does not always need words, and how peace can be shared simply through awareness and intention.

The journey had only just begun, but already it was teaching me something important: Sometimes the deepest experiences are the quiet ones.

I invite you to experience the following Open Eyed - Guided Meditation for Travelers.

Wishing you happy and meaningful travels!
